All-around effort leads Mustangs past Bloomington H.S. 8-7. Mustangs beat Bloomington H.S. 8-7 Friday behind both the bat and the arm of Mark Martin.
Martin had two extra-base hits for Mustangs. He doubled in the fourth inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning. Martin struck out eight, paving the way for a Mustangs win. Mustangs' pitcher tossed 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball and allowed only two hits. The game was back-and-forth heading into the seventh, with eight lead changes. Mustangs was sparked by Martin and Harold McClarin, who teamed up for seven hits and four RBIs. Mustangs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third. A single by McClarin, bringing home Mike Rizzo started the inning off. Bloomington H.S. quickly matched Mustangs' strong inning with a four-run inning of its own in the third. Mustangs pushed two runs across in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth. In the fourth, Mustangs scored on an RBI single by Brian Pall, plating Martin. Bloomington H.S. scored three runs of its own in the fifth. The lead stayed with Mustangs after the seventh, when it scored one run on an RBI single by Jr Wazio.

Mustangs escapes Shepard behind Brian Pall's 15 strikeouts, 3-1. A superb effort by Brian spurred Mustangs to a 3-1 win in seven innings over Shepard on Monday at The Rail Yard, Gary, IN. Pall kept contact to a minimum, striking out 15 Shepard batters. Pall allowed no earned runs, two hits and four walks over seven innings. Mustangs staved off Shepard as Shepard was unable to match Mustangs down the stretch. Shepard scored one run in the sixth on an error. Still, Shepard couldn't catch the Mustangs. Pall racked up two RBIs on two hits for Mustangs. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning. The lead stayed with Mustangs after the first, when it scored two runs on a two-run double by Pall.
